Gananoque Municipal Marina Breakwater

Project Summary:  In 2013/2014 Kehoe manufactured and installed the replacement floating breakwater and docks at the Gananoque Municipal Marina. The previous breakwater was designed, manufactured and installed by TIECO Manufacturing some 30 years before and had performed well during its year round service life. Kehoe purchased TIECO in 2008 and the TIECO design remains the basis for Kehoe’s structures today.
 

Work included 290 m of floating breakwater, 66 m of approaching main floating dock and 22 new finger piers. The new floating breakwater wave attenuator consisted of twin 914 mm diameter, 6.35 mm thick steel tubes. Additional steel was added on the exposed side of the floats to minimize the impacts of ice. 

A special feature of the design included a perforated wave attenuator pipe extending below the surface of the buoyancy tubes. Perforating the tubes of the wave attenuator pipe provided for additional absorption of the incoming wave energy.
